I popped in to chat to owner Brigette about the Hout Bay branch, what makes WAXIT different from a regular beauty salon, and why this quiet, private spot has become the go-to place for waxing in Hout Bay.
Why WAXIT Hout Bay?
Brigette bought the WAXIT Hout Bay franchise in October last year, but she already knew the business well. She had been a regular WAXIT client in Johannesburg and had always had an excellent experience.
When she moved from Johannesburg to Cape Town, she battled to find the same convenient waxing experience she had come to appreciate at WAXIT. She saw a clear gap for a WAXIT branch in the Southern Suburbs, but finding the right premises proved challenging.
So, when WAXIT head office called to say the Hout Bay branch was available to purchase, she jumped at the chance.
It made sense. Hout Bay needed a professional, specialist waxing salon that was easy to access, discreet and reliable.
The Mainstream branch is slightly away from the busiest part of the centre, which works beautifully for the service it offers. It is easy to reach from the main parking area near Woolworths, or from the parking area in front of the passageway, but the space feels quiet and private.
That privacy matters, especially for clients who feel a little self-conscious about waxing. It is also a big plus for men, who can walk straight into a dedicated waxing salon without having to pass through a nail bar or busy beauty salon first.

My WAXIT Hout Bay experience
I was once a seasoned waxer, but over time my skin became more sensitive. Eventually, after one wax, I broke out in hives and needed an injection to calm the angry reaction on my legs.
That was the end of waxing for me. Or so I thought.
By the time I had finished chatting to Brigette about WAXIT, she had convinced me to give the WAXIT way a try.
I chose a half-leg wax. It felt like the safest option in case my skin decided to be dramatic again, although I was assured that a reaction was unlikely because the wax is carefully formulated and hypoallergenic.

Marissa cleansed my legs before starting, and the wax was the perfect temperature. It felt close to body temperature, so I hardly noticed it. Her movements were quick and confident, and my legs were hair-free in no time.
The treatment was finished with hydrating lotion, and I was good to go.
No redness. No irritation. No sticky residue.
